Recently a friend asked me to name 15 fictional characters that had influenced my life. I could only name 10 off the top of my head. In no particular order, here's what I wrote down:
"Matt Murdock, Ogami Itto, Duncan MacLeod, Philip Marlowe, Sonny Crockett, Patrick Bateman, Stephen Dedalus, Howard Roark, J. Alfred Prufrock and Hamlet."
What's interesting to me is that I listed exactly five characters from genre fiction and five from literature.
