I can't find it now, but I swear I once read Danny Worsnop claiming he founded Asking Alexandria after reading The Dirt and thinking, "I could go way harder than that."

I had that possibly nonexistent quote in my head time the entire time I read Frank Sinatra in a Blender by Matthew McBride. I could just imagine McBride closing a book by, say, George Pelecanos, and muttering to himself, "You think that's an alcoholic detective? Phst. I'll show you a goddamn alcoholic detective."
